Mission and Vision
Mission
In support of the educational mandate of our Partner Boards, the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) is committed to providing a safe, efficient and effective transportation service to our students.
Vision
Alongside our transportation providers and their front-line staff, RCJTC is committed to getting students to and from school safely and efficiently in order to allow every student to benefit from the educational mandates of our partner school boards.
Our Commitment
As your trusted regional school transportation consortium, the RCJTC is committed to provide safe, cost effective, on time delivery of transportation services for the students in Renfrew County. To do so, we are committed to:
- Providing safe and efficient transportation services, in a reasonable period of time for the students, from their place of residence to the school and from the school to their place of residence.
- Providing individualized transportation services for students who cannot access regular transportation due to a physical or physiological disability, or for other medical reasons, as well as for students identified as “exceptional” students.
- Handling complaints, and requests for information or changes, on an individual basis, in accordance with the policies and procedures of RCJTC.
Guiding Principles
Our partner school boards have adopted guiding principles for school transportation services across the region.
- Be sensitive and respect the rights of resident students to attend a school in a school jurisdiction in which the student is qualified to be a resident pupil in accordance with the Education Act.
- Be sensitive and respect the operational needs of the Partner Boards in delivering transportation services to Catholic and Public ratepayers.
- Provide safe, efficient and cost effective transportation services.
- Administer the Consortium through the use of a common (joint) transportation policy.
- Ensure the common (joint) transportation policy and the delivery of transportation services by the Consortium respect the attendance rights of resident students including the right of a Partner Board, at that Board's expense, to make an exception to the transportation policy in individual situations to facilitate the attendance of a resident pupil at one of its schools. Transportation services will not be used as a tool to compete for students.
- Agree to share the costs of providing transportation services to students.
