First Ride Program
The safety of our students is of utmost importance, and with the support of our school bus operators, police officers and schools, we are pleased to provide the First Ride Program.
The First Ride Program is provided for students in grade JK/SK up to and including grade 3. It is designed to teach students about safety on and around the school bus.
This program is approximately 45 minutes in length and includes the following activities:
- A video titled "Buzzy the Bee's Safety Certificate! School bus safety rules and behaviour expectations for first time riders!".
- A video titled "Buster's Safety Badge! School Bus Safety Rules and Behaviour Expectations for Primary Students!".
- A discussion where students can ask questions, with the police on hand.
- A short bus ride where students will practice the rules they just learned, from loading and unloading the bus, riding on the bus, to crossing the road in front of the bus.
The First Ride Program is usually held on a school day during the month of October at your child(ren)'s school. Parents are welcome to attend by contacting your child(ren)'s school to confirm the date and time.
